This gives you enough time to explore the Archaeological Park at a relaxed pace and combine your visit with other places of interest, nature, dining, local experiences and time to enjoy the atmosphere of the town.
Copán Ruinas is located in western Honduras and is reached mainly by road. There are overland transportation options from different cities in Honduras; from Guatemala, visitors can enter through the El Florido border crossing, while travel from El Salvador can also be arranged by road through private transfers or tourism services.
Copán Ruinas can be visited throughout the year. For travelers who prefer a lower chance of rain, the dry season — generally from November through April — usually offers more comfortable conditions for visiting archaeological sites and enjoying outdoor activities. During the rainy season, the landscape becomes greener, although rainfall is more frequent.
Copán Ruinas has warm weather during much of the year, although temperatures vary depending on the season and time of day. The warmest months are generally between March and May, when daytime highs can reach around 34 °C or more. Lightweight clothing, comfortable footwear, hydration and sun protection are recommended for daytime activities.
